Le Marche - the heart of Italy

The Marche are a charming region right in Italy´s heartland. Here you still find what many tourists miss nowadays in Tuscany or Umbria. Scenic but quiet towns, beaches that are not crowded with foreigners (e.g. Senigallia), tasty, original cuisine at a fair price and typical Italian hospitality. But the Marche, the smallest of all Italian regions, has a lot more to offer:

Urbino is one of the finest Renaissance towns in Italy, Macerata hosts a great open-air opera festival every summer and many charming little towns like  Corinaldo and Sassoferrato with their unspoilt centri storici are certainly worth a closer look.

At the same time, there are some things you will not find here: mass-tourism, a high crime rate  and rocketing property prices. You may reach the Marche region via the Adriatic motorway or via the airport of Ancona, its capital. But also Bologna, Venice or Rome are not too far away, either. Several low-cost air carriers like Ryan Air offer good deals to Pesaro and Ancona.

For many Le Marche are still "unknown territory", but even for experienced travellers there is always something new to discover:

The Verdiccio from Jesi is reknown and popular world-wide, but have you tasted the the dark and full-bodied Lacrima di Morro d´Alba from the little town with the same name, made from an ancient grape that can be found nowhere else?

Have seen the Riviera de Conero, a stunning strech of the Adriatic coast with steep cliffs, narrow ravines and magnificient beaches?

Or have you visited the tiny village of Aqualagna in late October and November , when the world´s biggest truffles fair is in full swing. About 2/3rds of Italy´s white truffles harvest comes from the area around Aqualagna!

If you wish, we are happy to assist you with your travel plans. Give us a short call and we can recommend cosy hotels and typical restaurants in our regions. If you have trouble with the Italian language, we can help you out.

An excellent and independent guide though the Italian property jungle can be found at the Marche Voyager, the official tourism website of the Italian region Le Marche.
